On 10th February 2015 it was Internet Safety Day for the students of the Primary School of Dafia, Lesvos, Greece. The students used the material provided to the Ambassadors for Internet Safety,by the Greek Centre for Safer Internet.
The students read the prompt cards and had the chance to discuss the problems they might face as Internet users, put on their 6 Thinking Hats and suggest solutions, or even better try to find why the problem occured. They mentioned their own experiences or some they have heard of that concern them seriously.

After discussing the case-cards
the students worked on the "Barometer of Emotions". They read the prompt cards and stuck them on the board where the barometer climax was designed.
The students realized that what might seem innocent to one person might be extremely bothering to another, and that we have to take under consideration what a person might feel as a result of our actions.
The conclusions after the activities were that a big number of students are aware of the dangers when surfing the Net, but also a great number of students had experiences of cyber-bullying or harassment of different kinds. There was also a smaller number of kids who believe they are safe and do not realize what may happen if they are not careful, eg.boys thought it is OK to take clothes off in front of a camera just because they are boys. In general, the students exchanged opinions and thoughts and were able to discuss matters and get answers to their questions. A day well spent.......
